Vozači i njihove žene

Vozači i njihove žene

Hakkinen couple give birth to a healthy baby boy

Reports in the Finnish press affirm that Erja Hakkinen gave birth to a baby boy in the early hours of Monday morning.

Although the child was not due until Christmas, Mika is said to be thrilled as he wanted the baby to be present for the Christmas celebrations.

He is said to have been totally focused on the imminent arrival of his first child, and did not attend the FIA gala awards ceremony that was held in Monaco on Friday, nor will he begin testing until next year.

The couple plan to spend Christmas in Monaco with their new son, rather than travel to Finland to be with Mika's parents.

Mika Hakkinen was quoted as saying the following: "It's been really exciting ... my head is spinning and I didn't even remember to check how tall the boy was."

Despite the jibes that Mika and Erja Hakkinen may name their child Albert, because it is thought he may have been conceived at the Australian Grand Prix, the proud parents have decided on a very different name for their first child.

Hugo, as he will now be known, takes the name of a McLaren sponsor (Hugo Boss) after all, but it is very unlikely that this is the reason behind his name!

Hakkinen Jr. is likely to be the centre of attention when he does make his first appearance at a race, although Erja is expected to stay at home in Monaco for at least the first three long-haul destinations.
